On April 26, thousands of students, parents, teachers and workers are converging on Harrisburg to send a clear message to Gov. Corbett: EDUCATION IS OUR PRIORITY! FUND OUR SCHOOLS NOW!

Gov. Corbett's proposed budget includes major cuts to education funding. The total statewide level of cuts for PreK-12 education is $1.18 billion. This is a 15% total cut. The biggest cut is in state funding for Basic Education, which is cut statewide by $550 million.

The cuts fall hardest on school districts with the most poverty. These cuts to our schools will funnel more students into the school to prison pipeline and cut much needed jobs and services from our schools.

Meanwhile, the budget increases prison spending by 11% and allocates $650 Million to build 3 new state prisons.

Join us and make your voice heard about what Pennsylvania's priorities should be. This statewide mobilization is organized by the PA NAACP & supported by dozens of organizations from across PA.

We will travel to Harrisburg, participate in this important statewide rally & march, and return to the Philadelphia Student Union office at 5pm.
